Complementary Goals

- Solar Panel - City of Betim
Involve stakeholders.
The best intentions can only be implemented if many local and regional, even national actors join. Local government can take on the role of facilitator and enabler here, through awareness campaigns and gathering stakeholder input for local renewable energy plans.
Network extensively.
Cooperation and exchange in regional, national and global networks brings new ideas and visions and also helps to overcome challenges and barriers. Networking also contributes to good global development with south-south exchange and experience sharing.
Link up with regional and national governments.
If upper levels of government are involved and benefit from positive reporting, local programs can gain their support and through this receive access to funding, investments, contacts, dissemination, etc.
Set an example for citizens.
The easiest way for people to acquaint themselves with renewable energy is to see demonstration projects and to experience these technologies and learn about them at renewable energy resource or information centres. Such experiential learning can imbue visitors with a sense of enthusiasm for renewable energy, and facilitate the greater success of the city in reaching it's renewable energy targets and policies.
