Building Codes, Regulations, and Standards
In many cases local governments are responsible for, or have regulatory influence over building codes. In this capacity, local governments can mandate or set ordinances for renewable energy inclusion in major retrofits and new buildings. New buildings can be required to be "solar ready," and efficiency standards can be greatly increased.
