ICLEI - Local Governments for Sustainability is an international association of local governments as well as national and regional local government organizations that have made a commitment to sustainable development. ICLEI provides technical guidance, training, and information services to build capacity, share knowledge, and support local government in the implementation of sustainable development at the local level.    www.iclei.org


International Solar Cities Initiative (ISCI) was founded in 2003 in order to bring together scientists with practical knowledge of renewable energy and policy makers who have the power to incorporate renewable energy sources in their local policies.  www.isci-cities.org


Leonardo ENERGY, the global community for sustainable energy professionals offers a virtual database of information related to sustainable electrical energy. The resources they share are diverse, including webinars, papers and articles, and many more.

QUEST - Quality Urban Energy Systems of Tomorrow is a diverse network that aims to make Canada a leader in integrated and community based energy planning. Their publication section is very useful and specific to urban energy planning. www.questcanada.org


REN21-Renewable Energy Policy Network for the 21st Century aims to foster policy development for the rapid worldwide expansion of renewable energy. REN21 is a global policy network that links stakeholders from the energy, development and environment sectors together to share ideas and encourage action on renewable energy, through acting as a forum for international leadership on renewable energy. www.ren21.net


REEEP - The Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership. REEEP distributes funds to various projects that focus on renewable energy and energy efficiency. REEEP also has several projects on the go, including REEGLE - the Information Gateway to Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency, and Twinning Cities, a project (in partnership with Global Center for Community Sustainability) aimed at assisting with technology transfer and capacity building, an exchange between a poor city in a developing country and a city from an industrialized country.

Sustainable Energy Africa (SEA) is a non-profit organization that seeks to promote and implement sustainable energy practices in South Africa and Africa. With their City Energy Strategy Development focus, SEA helps local governments in South Africa and Africa with their city sustainable energy plans. www.sustainable.org.za


WADE- World Alliance for Decentralized Energy aims to accelerate the worldwide development of high efficiency cogeneration, onsite power and decentralized renewable energy systems that deliver substantial economic and environmental benefits. www.localpower.org
