Developing renewable energy triggers job creation

The development of renewable energy and energy efficiency creates jobs. Both sectors are much more labour intensive than conventional energy industries. For example, Germany has 248,000 people now employed in it's renewable energy sector, while in 10 years Spain has gained a workforce of 190,000 people

Policies that promote the local development of renewable energy technologies can encourage industries that build the technologies and component parts locally, and further indirect jobs related to the development of a local renewable energy industry.

There are further avenues for municipal economic benefits stemming from renewables, and that is the increase in revenue for landowners and for cities for the lease of city property and taxes related to renewable energy.
