Local Renewables easily includes various stakeholders
Stakeholder inclusion is increasingly important for encouraging a broad base of support for renewables, and also in turn for the greater reach that the development has on the local economy. Stakeholder participation is increasingly moving away from lease agreements and easements to those leases and easements that additionally include the surrounding properties impacted by the development. Community power and cooperatives is another avenue for the broader participation of community members (residents and businesses) to participate in the generation of renewable power. All of these mechanisms facilitate local development of renewable energy.
Education and outreach, including the use of demonstration projects adds further impetus to the broader uptake of renewables. Increased knowledge of what renewable energy technologies are, the benefits they can bring to the community, and the ways the electrical grid can handle renewables, all adds to this impetus.
